O'Reilly, Director U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Suite 2900 101 Marietta Street, NW Atlanta, GA 30323 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT UNIT 1 DOCKET NO. 50-325 LICENSE NO. DPR-71 SPECIAL REPORT PER TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 3.7.8 AND PURSUANT TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 6.9.2 (1-SR-84-3)

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

During Unit 1 power operation concurrent with an ongoing Unit 2 refueling / maintenance outage, two Unit 1 fire barrier LCOs were respectively initiated on August 27, 1984, to permit the repair _of fire door Nos. 111 and 201. Door No. 111, located on the 23-foot elevation of the common Unit 1/

Unit 2 Control Building, provides personnel access to the Unit 1 cable spread vault. A problem with the door closing mechanism prevented automatic closure.

Door No. 201, located on the 37-foot elevation of the common Unit 1/ Unit 2 Augmented Off-Gas Building, provides personnel access to the building.

Problens with the door latches prevented it from opening. Required repairs to fire door Nos. 111 and 201 were completed, and the doors were respectively returned to service on September 4 and 6, 1984. During the time period the subject LCOs were in effect, appropriate fire watches were maintained.

Very truly yours, d
