Revision 1 " Reactor Vessel Structural Integrity" l

Supplement I to the subject Generic Letter was issued on May 19,1995 and requested certain information concerning reactor vessel structural integrity. The requests are divided into four (4) parts.

GPU Nuclear's letter dated August 16, 1995 endorsed the report (BAW-2257) which was submitted by B&W Owners Group (B&WOG) on behalf of the B&WOG Reactor Vessel Working Group (RVWG) on August 1,1995 in response to Part (1) of the " Required Information" in Supplement 1 to the Generic Letter. GPU Nuclear is a member of B&WOG-RVWG.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that on November 1,1995 the B&WOG submitted industry responses (OG-95-1552) to Parts (2) through (4) of the " Required information" on behalf of the B&WOG-RVWG. The submittal transmitted the report, BAW-2257, Revision 1, prepared by B&W Nuclear Technologies. Prior to the submittal GPU Nuclear reviewed and concurred with the responses. Therefore, the November 1,1995 B&WOG submittal

38 pg The subject Generic Letter requested a determination of the need for use of the ratio g procedure, contained in R.G.1.99, Rev. 2, to the assessment of reactor vessel integrity. The gg B&WOG RVWG report (BAW-2257) includes calculated results of the application of the ratio y procedure which indicates little difference from the results obtained without use of this N procedure. We concur with the statement contained in B&WOG RVWG letter OG-95-1552 h.
