DESCRIPTION:

l Consists of 500 millicuries of krypton-85 in gaseous form deposited in container as per procedures in specification sheet A 2213.g (see file). After gas has entered cavity through soft copper tube, it is severed forming cold welded joint prior to soft soldering.

fiodel S-75 source is firmly secured within Tracerlab Model DH-75 backscatter beta gauge by 3 screw-type fasteners. l Capable of withstanding 200 psi without leak or rupture.

LABELING Each source contains a warning plate as per Dwg. Nos. B-209648 & A-231357.

OUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL:

All sources are helium leak tested before shipment to user.

j This letter is in reference to your letter dated August 6,1991, which l requested that we transfer the registration certificates listed in column 1 of  :

Enclosure 1 to inactive status. The certificates have been transferred to inactive status as you have requested. Please note that transfer of the i 2

registration certificates to inactive status means the sources or devices included on the certificates may no longer be commercially distributed.

The registration numbers for the certificates have been changed. Enclosure 1 i specifies the old registration number, the new registration number, and the  !

model numbers. Please note that some old certificates have been combined into one new inactive certificate. In addition, two registration certificates have been deleted from the system since they were duplicates of other certificates.

Please review the registration certificates (copies enclosed in their entirety and notify us immediately if there are any errors or) omissions.

LFE has no information concerning how the sources are labeled.

CONDITIONS OF NORMAL USE:

The source is used in LFE Model DH-75 backscatter beta gauges and is held in place by 3 screw-type fasteners.

PROTOTTPE TESTING:

A prototype of the source was tested to ensure it is capable of withstanding 200 psi (1400 kPa) of pressure without leak or rupture. l EXTERNAL RADIATION LEVELS:

The source was only used in the Model DH-75. Therefore, reference the certificate for the Model DH-75 for the radiation levels from the source when in use.

LIMITATIONS AND/OR OTHER CONSIDERATIONS OF USE:

• The sealed source may be used by specific licensees of NRC or Agreement States when used in a Model DH-75 gauging device.

• Handling, storage, use, transfer, and disposal: To be determined by the licensing authority.
