The Model D series source assemblies are designed for use in the Sinco Testing Model DU-100P exposure device.
The third (last) character in the source model designation indicates the type of
{
connector; the "G". indicates the short (old) saf-t-key connector, while t's.e "R" indicates the radionics or "T-BAR" connector.
The source is singly encapsulated in either 304 or 316 stainless steel.
The seal weld may be performed using an end cap weld, or a side circumferential weld, either of which are accomplished using a heliarc welding technique.. Capsule wall thickness is maintained at a minimum of 0.030" (0.76 mm).
Those pigtails furnished with the "R"
connector use 3/32" (2.38 mm) diameter stainless steel-cables while those furnished with the "G" connector use 1/8" (3.18 mm) diameter.
Pigtail length tolerances are held to 11/16" (11.59 mm).
1 PROTOTYPE TESTING:
These sources have a classification of E32515 as described in ANSI publication N5.10-1968. The manufacturer states that prototype source assemblies have met the test criteria specified in the ANSI document.
QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL:
Each " pigtail" assembly is subjected to a 100 lb. ( 45.36 kg) pull' test prior to radioactive material insertion, and is subjected to a contamination wipe test after the material is sealed in the capsule.
If the wipe test indicates contamination, then a hot water bubble test will be performed.
