Seven models of smoke detectors contain either a type 100A or 100B ionization chamber.
All seven of these models share common tooling for plastic parts.
Models utilizing either a 100A or 100B ionization chambers are models: SMD1, 0805, 0905, 0906, 0908, 1225, and 1255.
The 200 series will be essentially identical in design and will use a type 200 chamber only and will not exceed stated dose rates at 5 cm (1.9685") and 25 cm (9.8425") All alarms / detectors will have plastic. housings.
The housing consists of plastic base and a plastic cover.
The plastic housing will size from 4" (10.16 cm) to 7" (17.78 cm).
The Series 200 includes models 0914, 0915, 0916, 0918, 1235, 1275 and 1285 and the applicant may distribute other models, meeting the requirements stated herein, as a part of the 200 series classification.
All models will have a thickness 0.062" (1.587 mm) or greater and satisfied UL requirements.
These tests included 5 drops from 7 feet (2.1336 m), jarring test, and vibration tests.
All future models would also be required to pass these tests.
The plastic material used for the housing must i
also comply with the UL requirements for flammability, temperature stability, and impact resistance.
