Seven models of smoke detectors contain either a type 100A or 100B ionization chamber. All seven of these models share common tooling for plastic parts. Models utilizing either a 100A or 100B ionization chambers are models: SMD1, 0805, 0905, 0906, 0908, 1225, and 1255.

The 200 Series will be essentially identical in design and will use a type 200 chamber only and will not exceed stated dose rates at 5 cm (1.97") and 25 cm (9.84"). The ionization chamber is covered by a stainless steel shell that has 24 2 slotted louvers equally spaced with either a square edge or an edge with a radlus. The effective opening of each louver is no greater than 1 2 . 00 net by 10 . 2 mm ( 0 . 079 " by 0 . 402 " ) .

l All alarm / detectors will have plastic housings. The housing consists of plastic base and cover. The plastic housing will f size from 10.16 cm (4.00") to 17.78 cm (7.00"). The Series 200 {

includes models 0914, 0915, 0916, 0918, 1235, 1275, and 1285 and the applicant may distribute other models, meeting the requirements stated herein, as a part of the 200 Series classification. All models will have a thickness 1.587 mm (0.062") or greater and satisfy UL requirements. These tests include 5 drops from 2.13 m (7.00 ft), jarring test, and vibration tests. All future models will also be required to pass these tests. The plastic material used for the housing must also l comply with the UL requirements for flammability, temperature l

stability, and impact resistance.

DESCRIPTION:

Seven models of smoke detectors contain either a type 100A or 100B ionization chamber. All seven of these models share common tooling.for plastic parts. Models utilizing either a 100A or 100B ionization chambers are models: SMD1, 0805, 0905, 0906, 0908, 1225, and 1255.
