sLest 2.Liil INTRODOOTION ( The following is a brief introduction to the IBM PC STRUDL workstation that has been Installed at Ebasco Services Inc. In the Special i Analysis Group by UCCEL Corporation. The workstation is a " menu" driven system that reduces the time required for an engineer to learn how to use the IBM-PC and allows him to ut'llize his time more effectively, incorporated in this STRUDL workstation is a STRUDL preprocessor for frame analysis and baseplate analysis which creates a STRUDL Input deck based on responses to questions asked on the screen. The user,. also, has the option to manually type in most of the STRUDL commands. The workstation operates with two disks. One is a " system" disk which contains the operating system and the necessary software to run the workstation. The other disk is a " data" disk which contains the STRUDL input decks that are created, it is highly recommended that the user has at least two back-up copies of the " data" disk. The "dsta" disk should be backed-up periodically to prevent accidental loss of data to mishandling or other unforeseen events. O O

Purpose:
Allows you to edit a line of text. You must enter the i line number of the line to be edited, or enter a period (.) to indicate the current line. ! Format: [line) i Remarks: If you just press Enter, you specify that the line after the current line is to be edited.

The line number and its text are displayed and the line number is repeated on the line below. You can use the control keys and the editing keys, described in the DOS User's Guide, to edit the line, or you can replace the entire line by typing new text. O When you press the Enter key, the edited line is placed in the ille and becomes the current line. If you decide not to save the changed line, press either Esc or Ctrl-Break instead of Enter. The original line remains unchanged. Pressing the Enter key with the cursor at the beginning of the line has the same effect as pressing Esc or Ctrl-Break. Purpose:
Ends EDLIN and saves the edited file. Format: E' Remarks: The edited file is saved by writing it to the drive and filename specified when you started EDLIN.
. The original file, the one specified when EDLIN was started, is given a .BAK filename extension. A .BAK file will not be created if there is no original file; that . is, if you created a new file instead of updating an old file during the editing session.
EDLIN returns to the DOS command processor, which displays the command prompt. Notes:
- l. Be sure your disk has enough free space to
- save the entire file. If your disk does not have enough free space, only a portion of the file is saved. The portion in memory that is not written to disk is lost. In this case, your original file will not be renamed to .BAK, and the portion of data that was written to disk will have a filename extension of $$$.
- 2. EDLIN appends a carriage return, line feed sequence to the end of the file if they .
were not already present, to delimit the last
. line of text in the Ale. Also, a Ctrl-Z 1 character is added as the last character in 1 the saved file. This serves as an end-of-file ~

This is needed to bill each STRUDL run to a specific project. This is the only record that will associate this STRUDL run with a valid Ebasco project charge. Only alphanumeric characters will be accepted in this field (i.e. CP3317002).
- 3. "In order to identify your output, please enter your name (up to 10 characters):"
You have a field length of 10 cnarac+ers to identify the user. Special characters such as a space or a period are allowed in this field (i.e. D. CHIN).
- 4. "At what priority would you like to run this job?"

- 5. Press the " Enter" key to activate the modem.
This will establish a telephone connection from the IBM-PC to UCCEL and the STRUDL deck will automatically be sent to UCCEL for processing. The IBM-PC will automatjcally logoff, disconnect the modem and return to original screen (see figure 1). The STRUDL output is automatically sent to the printer on the 87th floor. Note: Please do not touch any of the keys on the keyboard during transmission of data. This will cause the information to be transmitted improperly. O

TEXAS UTILITIES GENERATING COMPANY COMANCHE PEAK UNIT NO. 2 P-Delta STRUDL Example Problem No. 1 " Frequency Analysis" O-In order to illustrate typical P-Delta STRUDL computer runs, a sample problem was created. Three runs are provided. The first run (J6600A) is a frequency analysis of the cable tray hanger. The second run (J9193A) is a static run using the equivalent static analysis method. The third and final run (J8531A) is a baseplate (actually base angle run). The first run (J6600A), a frequency analysis, included in this section. It has been marked up with comments describing the contents and purpose of each line of input. Since the purpose of these runs is to illustrate' how the P-Delta STRUDL program functions, a simple frame with one tray was used. The following assumptions have been made:
'g 1. The hanger is located in Room 83 of the Safeguard Building and is attached to the bottom of the concrete slab at EL 831.50.
- 2. The hanger is a transverse hanger.
- 3. Ther=olag is applied since Room 83 has thermolag.
- 4. The size of the tray is 24 x 4 and it spans 4 feet on one side, and 6 feet on the other. The tray is centered on the bottom tier. Weight of tray is therefore taken as (96 pounds per foot X 5 feet) 480 pounds.
- 5. The vertical members or posts were assumed to be C6X8.2. The horizontal members or tiers were assumed to be C4X7.25. The brace was assumed to l be a 3X3X3/8 angle. l l

TEXAS UTILITIES GENERATING COMPANY COMANCHE PEAK UNIT NO. 2 g P-Delta STRUDL Example Problem No. 2 " Static Analysis" O In order to illustrate typical P-Delta STRUDL computer runs, a sample problem was created. Three runs are provided. The first run (J6600A) is a frequency analysis of the cable tray hanger. The second run (J0193A) is a static run using the equivalent static analysis method. The third and final run (J8531A) is a baseplate (actually base angle run). The second run (J9193A), a static analysis, is included in this section. It has been marked up with comments describing the contents and purpose of each line of input. Since the purpose of these runs is to illustrate how the P-Delta STRUDL program functions, a simple frame with one tray was used. The following assumptions have been made:
- 1. The hanger is located in Room 83 of the Safeguard Building and is attached to the bottom of the concrete slab at EL 831.50.
- 2. The hanger is a transverse hanger.
- 3. Thermolag is applied since Room 83 has thermolag.
- 4. The size of the tray is 24 x 4 and it spans 4 feet on one side and 6 feet on the other. The tray is centered on the bottom tier. Weight of tray is therefore taken as (96 pounds per foot X 5 feet) 480 pounds.
- 5. The vertical members or posts were assumed to be C6X8.2. The horizontal members or tiers were assumed to be C4X7.25. The brace was assumed to be a 3X3X3/8 angle.
