PART I 3.0 INSTRUCTION 3.1 WORK PACKAGES The paper flow group shall issue a work package for each CTH that shall initially contain the preliminary "as-built" drawing and a pre-numbered inspection report (Attachment 1). In addition, PFQ shall be responsible for maintaining the current revision of the preliminary "as-built" drawing as well as inserting the AFC/ Final "As-built" drawings, rework travelers, and subsequent inspection reports when applicable. 3.1.1 Cable Tray Support Identification . Prior to inspection / verification, the QC Inspector shall verify that the cable tray support has been identified by Site Field O. Engineering. Identification shall be by a stainless steel tag with the CTH number permanently stamped on it, and the tag affixed to the CTH with a plastic

  • tie wrap. In the Containment Building, the plastic tie wrap shall be "Tefsel".

NOTE 1: Tefzel tie wraps are blue, standard tie wraps are white. NOTE 2: The unit des'ignation number may or may not be included on the stainless steel identification tag attached to the support. NOTE 3: When the identification tag could not be affixed. directly to the support due to thermolag, etc., it may be attached to the thermolag or to the tray immediately adjacent to the support. 3.1.2 Cable Tray Support Location and Elevation Cable tray support location, elevation, spans, plumb, and levelness are verified by field engineering and are not within the scope of this procedure. 3.1.3 Material Requirements and Traceability The following materials (NITM) shall be used unless otherwise () shown on the drawing: l

a. Structural shapes - A36
b. Base plates - A36
c. Structural tubing - A500 Grade B Verification of material traceability is not required for A-36, A500, Grade B material, A & C type clamp materials, and for material used for shin and filler plates. Material requiring traceability verification shall be in accordance with Reference 1-E.

3.1.4 Ghosted Attributes on Support Drawinas The cable tray hanger drawing will contain the as-built information for the specific cable tray hanger number designated on the drawings. In several instances, other cable tray hangers connected to the same base angle or base /eabedded plate may be shown " ghosted" on the same drawing. Attributes of the " ghosted"

, cable tray hanger are not to be inspected or verified.

The example on Attachment 12 illustrates the inspection process to be applied in those instances. If the inspector is inspecting CTH-IXX, he should not inspect or verify the attributes on the base angle (shown ghosted) or CTH-YYY. This means that no reinspection or verification of the anchorages, bearing area, etc., will be conducted. That inspection verification will be done when CTH-YYY is inspected and verified with its respective drawing. Attributes of other " ghosted" items connected to support members are not to be inspected or verified. 3.2 BOLTING INSPECTION General Boltina Requirements For each support the following shall be verified by the inspector as denoted in Parts II and III (Specific Bolting Requirements). l l

a. Diameter
b. Spacing and location (dimension verification from centerline of bolt).
c. Material type and grade when required by design for bolts and washers, if bolt type is specified as other than A-307 (i.e., A-325. A-490, A-193 gr. b-7 etc.). Verification of O nut material is not required unless'a friction type connection is specifically noted on the drawing (i.e.,

A-326-F).

When beveled washers are installed they shall be oriented to reduce the slope below 1:20, but may be installed with either side of the washer against the mating surface of the member. An irregular gap 0- of 1/16" max. is acceptable between the bolthead, the washer (bevel and flat) and the rarface of the member. Caps between bolt heads and nuts and washers are subject to the i above provision.
h. Quantity as shown on the cable tray hanger drawings and Attachment 11 when applicable.

NOTE: See Attachment 6 for identification of bolting material. 2

1. The QC Inspector shall verify that nuts on structural bolts exhibit no looseness when checked by hand only.

? ! j. ASTM A-449 bolt may be substituted for A-325. l

k. When A-307 bolts are specified on the drawing or Attachment

,i 11, no verification of bolt or nut material is required. i 3.2.1 Support configuration The inspector shall verify that support configuration is in accordance with the CTH drawing and the below listed criteria.

a. Verification of all dimensions and/or attributes shown.

OCT 131986 Major Rewrite - No Change Bars 1 i l ATTACHMENT 11 NOTES  ; i NOTES:

; 1. The details shown in this attachment, together with the following notes are to be used for the inspection of clamps and other attributes shown.
2. Attachment 11 specifies those clamp details and dimensions which are for inspection purposes. Dimensicas not given on the preliminary "as-built" drawing, such as gaps, dimensions of field fabricated Burndy Husky clamps, etc., shall be as shown in Attachment 11. For "special" clamps not covered in Attachment 11, details and dimensions shall be as shown on the preliminary "as-built" drawing. Cap require-ments given in Attachment 11A override any clamp gap requirement shown on the preliminary "as-built" drawing. For clamp types specified on l

the CTH drawing as other than type A, C, C and "special", they shall be inspected as a one bolt, two bolt or multi bolt clamp configuration 4 as applicable.

3. Tray clamps shown in this attachment may be attached to a supporting tube steel, angle, plate, channel, section, walls or floors as applic-able and as shown on the preliminary "as-built" drawing. If a shim / filler / spacer plate is welded to both the elsap member and the structural member, the plate is considered part of the structural 4 member. In this case any welding unless specifically called NNS on the CTE drawing is considered structural and the veld is safety related.
4. Washer plates on one or two bolt clamp details of the connection to the tray of 24" and wider are required, (verify presence) washer plates may or may not be used on tray less than 24". Where A307 round head bolts with standard washers are specified, the conventional symbol on Attachment 11 and on preliminary "as-built" drawing should
' not be construed to represent the location of the washer. The washer .

shall be installed under the nut. Flat washers may be combined with

! flat or bevel washers. No more than two washers shall be stacked.

When a flat and bevel washer are stacked, either order cf stacking is i acceptable. Flat washers may be installed under either or both the

! head of the bolt and the nut; however, the existence and location of 1 flat or bevel washers is not required to be shown on the preliminary ,
as-built drawing.
,                                    5. If the irregular gap between the tray and the clamp exceed 3/16,                             ;

t

. washer plates shall be provided. In case washer plates are used the

! maximum irregular gap of 3/16 is to be measured as a total gap between !. clamp and tray, less the thickness of the washer plate (s) (verify presence). ' l

6. Clamps on both sides of the tray need not be identical.
7. For clamp details this attachment specifies that the total clamp dimensions (i.e., height, width, length, etc.) and the dimensions from bolts / holes closest to each edge are to be inspected / verified. The dimensions shown on the preliminary "as-built" may not, in all cases, be recorded in the same manner as shown in this attachment. In those instances QC shall determine that sufficient information exists on the preliminary "as-built" drawing to parait verification of the dimen-sions required per Attachment 11, and shall verify said dimensions of Attachment 11.
8. i'he details shown on this attachment shall be used in conjunction with Attachment llA.
9. Shims or Filler plates used to reduce / eliminate excessive gaps betvean trays and support member or shims are acceptable for all cases. Shims or filler plates of different thicknesses (minimum thickness of 1/16")

may be combined to reach " Max." thichness for all Attachment 11 and 11A details. Welds, if used, for those shims / filler plates are NNS. The existance/ location of filler / shim plates is not required to be shown on the drawing.

10. Inspection orientation shall be per Attachment 14.
11. For dimensions showing transverse location of bus duct, the dimension shall be taken ' rom the side of the bus duct cover.
12. The leg dimension of angles cut from larger size and used as cable tray clamps (one bolt, two bolt or multi bolt configuration) shall have a tolerance of t1/8".
