(~.e 1.0 PURPOSE / DISCUSSION 1.1 The purpose of this procedure is to provide instruct ions to the operator for detect ing and correct ing a Liquid Radwaste System Leak ot- Failure.

1.2 This procedure may interface with the Emergency Plan and Of f Normal Event Procedures.

1.3 Th is procedure will cover a failure of the Process Liquid Radwaste System, worst case being the rupture of one of the Evaporator Bottom Storage tanks, to a system leak from valve or pump packing or piping i failures. Airborne act ivity will be experienced, along with some radiation hazards.

2.0 SYMPTOMS 2.1 Unexplained decrease of Storage Tank Level as indicated by a remote level ind ica t ion. ,e 2.2 Exc e s s iv e pumpage from t Floor Drain Sump.

2.3 Visual observation of flow om tank or unusual residue on floor.

2.4 Radwaste Building Area Radiation Monitor Alarms.

( 2.6 Increase in airborne act ivity in Radwaste.

3.0 AUTOMATIC ACTIONS 3.1 If the Of f-Gas and/or Radwaste Building Vent ilat ion Radiat ion Monitor reaches the liigh-liigh setpoint , the Radwaste Building Exhaust and Supply Fans will trip and associated dampers will shut.

? 3.2 The Floor Drain Sump Pumps will pump the liquid to the Floor Drain Collector Tank.

4.0 IMMEDIATE OPERATOR ACTIONS 4.1 Verify the appropriate automat ic actions have occurred.

I l 4.2 If the area has high airborne or high radiat ion, evacuate the af fected areas immediately and restrict access to the area.

4.3 If the Radwaste Building Vent ilat ion should have isolated but did not shutdown, manually shutdown the Radwaste Vent ilation System in

accordance with SQL 04-1-01-V41-1.

system or tank to another tank or sump.

4.5 Contact the llealth Physics group to survey the area for radiat ion levels and airborne levels.

5.0 SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS 5.1 Proceed to implement the Emergency Plan as directed by the Shi

Supervisor or Shif t Superintendent.

i 5.2 If high airborne exists, implement ONEP 05-1-02-II-9, liigh Airborne.

5.3 Following proper radiat ion control measures, remove the spill residue.

5.4 Ut ilize an alternate rout ing of liquid radwaste , if available.
