1.0 PURPOSE / DISCUSSION 1.1 The purpose of this procedure is to provide instruction to the operator in.the event of a Solid Radwaste Spill.

l.2 This procedure may interface with the emergency plan.

1.3 This procedure will discuss actions to be taken if a spil1 of solidified waste occurs. The failure of the cannister may be due to a fall or metal

. O Sn PTo.;s 2.1 Abnormal radiat ion levels indicated on the radwaste building area radiation monitors.

2.2 Visual observation of spilled solid radwaste.

j 2.3 Possible inc rease in airborne activity.

3.0 AUTOMATIC ACTIONS 3.1 None (p 4.0 IMMEDIATE OPERATOR ACTIONS 4.1 Evacuate the affected area and restrict access to the area.

4.2 Contact Health Physics to survey the area of the spill.

5.0 SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS

}

5.1 Proceed to implement the emergency' plan if directed by the Shift Supervisor or Shift Superintendent.

5.2 If high airborne exists, implement ONEP 05-12-01-II-9, High Airborne.

5.3 Following proper Radiation Control measures, place the solid spill in a container for later processing.
