1. IER NUMBER: 82-160/03L-0 1[. 14YALLE C(UNA'Y MATION: 3 Unit'1 lit. DOCKET NUMBER: 050-373 IV. EVENT DESCRIPTION:

On November 24; 19P0 wdile running at 450 MWE a leak was detected on the high point vent line (1C619AB 3/4") for the discharge line from condensate booster pump '1B'.

' V. PROBABLE CONSEQUENCES OF Tl!E OCCURRENCE:

At the tiac of this event, LaSalle Unit 1 was in Condition 2. The leak could nat be isolated without shutting down the condensate booster system.

, The leakage was contained within the '1B' condensate pump room and its floor drains. This area was already being considered as a potentially contaminated region. The health and safety of the public was maintained at all times. .

VI. CAUSE:

The exact cause of the Icak ceuld not be determined, but it is known that the failure occurred directly above the socket weld in the heat i a f fected . tone between pipe lines 10B01BB and 1CB19AB.

, VII. CCT:nECTLVC XCTION:

A k'ork Rnquest. L20714, was initiated to correct the problem. On Deceuber 1, 19n2 an outage (1-1779'82) was taken on the condensate booster system so that maintenance work could be performed. A Radiation Chemistry Technician surveyed the condensate booster pump '1B' area before the work was started and found no notabic radioactivity present at'that time. The line (ICB19AB) was satisfactorily repaired on December 3, 1982.
