Response to IE Bulletin 80-15

Dear Sir:

This letter is in response to reference (b) above, concerning the power supply to the ENS (Emergency Notification System).

On 6/26/80, it was determined that the ENS was powered from an on-site power supply without a battery backup and inverter or equally reliable power supply. The NRC Operations Center was notified via the ENS within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
as required.

Modification to the ENS power supply was completed on 8/13/80. The ENS now has a power supply with a backup from the plant Security Diesel Generator.

A test of the ENS (while powered from the plant Security Diesel Generator) was successfully completed on 8/13/80. During this test, a loss of the normal power supply to the ENS was simulated. The Security Diesel Generator started automatically and it was verified that all extensions of the ENS remained fully operable f rom our f acility to the NRC Operations Center.

As required by reference (b), plant procedure A.P. 0010 (Occurrence Report) now requires immediate notification (within one hour) to the NRC Operations Center upon the inoperability of one or more extensions of the ENS.

The following information is submitted in response to your request for G010020255'2
