We are continuing to investigate :he safety implications and reportability of this catter under 10CTR50.55(e) and 10CFRy . Our status report is attached. Bechtel Quality Assurance Recuest QAR F-258 has been assigned to track this iter. We expect tc provide our final report on this matter by March 6, 1981.

Attachment to AECM-80/302 Page 1 of I STATUS REPORT FOR PRD-80/6S I. Description of the Deficiency The Grand Gulf Nucle:1r Station uses Potter & Brumfield AMF type relays in the Main Steam Isolation Valve Leakage Control System panels. While work was being perfor=ed on Panel 1H13-P655, it was noted that #16 AWG wires connected to the AMF type relays had broken loose from their ter=inations. A washer had been provided at these terminations to hold the wire strands without the use of a lug attached to the wire. The wires that were at-tached to the relays using lugs did not have this problem.

II. Approach to Resolution Mississippi Power & Light Co=pany is working with the constructor to resolve this deficiency by:

1. Determining the extent of the defi:iency,
2. Evaluating impact on safety of plant operations, and
3. Determining and i=plementing corrective actions and actions to preclude occurrence.

III. Status of Pronosed Resolution The constructor requested the General Electric Company to evaluate this condition for extent, affect on safety, and ccrrective action.

Bechtel Quality Assurance Request QAR ?-255 has been assigned to track this iten. We expect to receive a complete evaluation of this response from the constructor by February 6, 1981.

Based on this schedule, we expect to provide our final determina-tion of reportability and proposed corrective actions by March 6, 1981.

IV. Reason For Delav of Final Report The NSSS vendor has not completed investigative actions.
