Hanuary 19, 1980.
Dear Mr. Ahearne ,
Will you please read the enclosed copies of two news releases of January 11tn and January 12th?
We had a very I am a member ofThe SensibleNuclear Maine Power. Commission's Regulatory successful meeting.
delegation was extremely courteous and sympathized witn our problems and questions, for some of which they had answers, and many they did not.
If this delegation ot tnree members of tne Nuclear Pegulatory Commission staff could make such a mistake in tne interpretation of Maine Yankee 's application tor license amendment, we wonder what other mistakes they will make in assessing the very serious question of 75% added waste fuel storage on plant site in Wiscasset, whien is located very close to tne Robinnood eartnquake fault.
We cannot accept tne hazards of disassemoling fuel rods and adding waste storage at Maine Yankee nuclear power plant in Wiscasset. We have We no evacuation plan. and never can are on the end of ato twelve milewe have a workable one. escape, long peninsula, and in case or an accicent, l must travel nortn on Route 27, getting closer to tue plantDurin witn every mile.
lour montns, there are close to ivo,v00 people on tnese peninsulas and islancs, wnose only escape is via Rouce 27.
We av Ad like to hear your remarks regarding this very grave problem. I speak for well over five hundred members l of our organization.
Sincerely yours ,
