On July 16,1998 [ Reference (c)], Maine Yankee requested the NRC evaluate two new staff positions as backfits under 10CFR 50.109.
NRR Office Letter No. 901, Proceduresfor Managing Plant-Specific Backfits and 10CFR50.54(f)
Information Requests, provides an expectation that "within 3 weeks of receiving the written backfit claim, the PM should send a letter, from the reactor projects director to the licensee, incorporating the report on the backfit determination." We have been unsuccessful in determining the status and/or estimated completion date of the staff's evaluation of our backfit claim. We would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter.
