-NRC SECURITY BASELINE INSPECTION REPORT 05000454/2018412; 050004 55/2018412

Dear Mr. Hanson:

On October 2 6, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed a security inspection at your Byron Station , Units 1 and 2, and the NRC inspector discussed the results of this inspection with Mr. Patrick Boyle and other members of your staff.

The results of the inspection are documented in the enclosed report.

The NRC inspector did not identify any finding o r violation of more

-than-minor significance.

SUMMARY

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission continued monitoring licensee's performance by conducting a Security Baseline Inspection at Byron Station, Units 1 and 2, in accordance with the Reactor Oversight Process.

The Reactor Oversight Process is the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's program for overseeing the safe operation of commercial nuclear power reactors.

INSPECTION SCOPES

Inspections were conducted using the appropriate portions of the inspection procedures in effect at the beginning of the inspection unless otherwise noted.

Samples were declared complete when the inspection procedure requirements most appropriate to the inspection activity were met consistent with Inspection Manual Chapter 2515, "Light

-Water Reactor Inspection Program

- Operations Phase."

The inspector reviewed selected procedures and records, observed activities, and interviewed personnel to assess licensee performance and compliance with Commission rules and regulations, license conditions, site procedures, and standards.

The inspector evaluated the Security Testing and Maintenance Program.

INSPECTION RESULTS

No findings or violations were identified.

EXIT MEETINGS AND DEBRIEFS

The inspector confirmed that proprietary information was controlled to protect from public disclosure.

On October 2 6, 2018, the inspector presented the baseline security inspection results to Mr. Patrick Boyle, and other members of the licensee staff.
