A codification was made to improve the Steam Dump control System's operability )

and Ter f ormance. The modification included the addition of a summator in j series with TM-408N (Bank i driver), the replacement of all driver summators i with- summatcre containing output limiting, and the replacement ot' I/V modules l TM-408h!/R, TM-408JI/R, and PC-464AI/R with proper modules for the application.

AArgIY EVALUATION

SUMMARY

I The probability or consequences of an accident described in the FSAR will not  !

be increased because -the system design following the modification is similar  ;

to the existing -system. The safe condition of the steam dump valves, after sufficient cooldown, is closed. The modification will prevent overcooling, ,

which is possible with the present system. The possibility of an accident or  !

malfunction of a different type than any previously evaluated in the FSAR is l

- not created because the system may fail in the same ways as before the ,

modification. Operation of the system is not assumsd in the Technical ,

specification bases. No changes to the UFSAR are required. ,

No unreviewed safety question is involved.

CHANGE TITLE

- Installation of Spool Piece'in Place of FT-SD-1008 CHANGE DE3CMETJp3 Jumper and lifted lead'tage for a spool piece were installed in place of flow transmitter FT-SD-108D. FT-SD-1000 had suffered physical degradation and was leaking causing a personnel safety hasard and a housekeeping concern.

SAFETY EVALUATION SVKMARY Tha Heater Drain System is designated as non-safety related. The probability or consequences of an accident described in the FSAR will not be it.rreased because the Heatet Drain System is not safety related and does not contain any radioactive material. Failure of the spool piece vill not result in a radioactive release. Accidents described in FSAR Section 14.2 take credit for feedwater- isolation and this is not affected by the modification. The

. possibility of an accident or malfunction of a different type than any previously evaluated in the FSAR is not created because the spool piece to be installed is of the same material used in the Heater Drain System and has been sized to handle the temperature and pressure to which it will be exposed. The spool piece will maintain system integrity. This Instrument ated System are not discussed in the Unit 1 Technical Specifications.

No unreviewed cafet/ question is involved.

SAFETY tyALL1 noN suMMAg The probability or consequences of an accident described in the FSAR will not be increased because the procedure does not have a negative affeet on battery duty cycle. The pcssibility of an accident or real t unction of a ditforent type than any previously evaluated in the FSAR is not created because the charging of one cell will not have a negative af f ect on the capacity or function of the other battery cells.

The battery will have sufficient capacity and margin to satisfy the baset for Technical Speci.f ications 3.8.2.3 and 3.8. 2. 4.
