In response to IE Bulletin 79-04, Incorrect , eights for Swing Check Valves manuf actured by Velan Engineering Corporatiou. dated March 30, 1979 Alabama Power Company submits the following response to Items 1 through 5 for Farley Unit 2.

Ite= 1: List all Seismic Category I pipine systems where 3, 4, or 6 inch diameter Velan swing check valves are installed.

(a) Baron Thermal Regeneration (2 valves)

(b) Waste Process (3 valves)

(c) Chemical and Volume Control (11 Valves)

(d) Safety Injection (11 valves)

Item 2: Verify for the systems identifiel in Item (1) above that correct check valve weights were used in the piping analysis.

All Velar swing check valve weights from certified vendor drawings are compared to the check valve weights specified in IE Bulletin 79-04. No discrepancies were found.

Item 3 thru 5: These items in the bulletin are not applicable since the correct valve weights were used in the analysis.
