Correction of Gaseous Emuent Data in the 1996-1997 OSTR Annual Report Gentlemen:

The purpose of this letter is to amend the gaseous radioactive emuent data which were submitted in  !

the Annual Report of the Oregon State University Radiation Center and TRIGA Reactor for the I period July 1,1996 through June 30,1997 in accordance with section 6.7.e of the OSTR Technical Specifications. This amendment is necessary due to the recent discovery of an error in our analyzer emciency calculation. This incorrect emeiency was used from January 1997 to January 1998.

The correction of the analyzer emeiency reduced the reported amount of the radioactive emuent released. For the 1996-1997 annual reporting period, the corrected annual value for the gaseous effluent release is 5.69 curies (see the attached Corrected Table V.B.2 for 1996-1997: Monthly Summary of Gaseous Emuent Releases). This value is down from the 6.68 curies reported in the 1996-1997 OSTR Annual Report. The release data for July through December 1997 were also affected and the corrected data will be reported in the 1997-1998 OSTR Annual Report.
