Dear Sir:

It is my understanding that a citizen's organization, Chattanoogans for Safe Energy, has submitted a petition to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission under Section 2.206 of the Regulations, asking that a public hearing be conducted in Chattanooga before the Conmission permits fuel loading at the TVA Sequoyah Plant at Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee. Members of this organization report that they have received neither acknowledgement nor a ruling on their petition.

At the winter quarterly meeting of the Tennessee Environmental Council's Board of Directors, upon motion of the representative of Church Women United, the Board adopted a resolution supporting the earlier request for a hearing submitted to you by Chattanoogans for Safe Energy.

It is surely in the public interest to encourage a full and open discussion of outstanding safety issues gmwing out of the accident at Three Mile Island on March 28, 1979.

Very truly yours, Ruth H. Neff Executive Director CC: Dr. Elsie Quarterman Mrs. Dolph Honiker Jim DesRosiers h r 4
