On March 27, 2006, a notice of opportunity for hearing was published regarding the applicationfor renewal of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station license. 71 Fed. Reg. 15,220 (Mar. 27, 2006). The notice indicated that a copy of any petition filed was to be served on the Office of the General Counsel. On May 31, 2006, the project manager (who has been out ofthe office the past two weeks) discovered an April 27, 2006, letter (addressed to him and postmarked May 15, 2006) from the Town of Marlboro, VT, requesting a hearing on that application. The Office of the General Counsel immediately forwarded a copy of the letter toyour office.Although the letter indicates that a copy was sent to the Office of the General Counsel, ouroffice has no record of prior receipt of the letter. Accordingly, this letter is to notify you that the Staff plans to file its answer within 25 days from the actual receipt of the letter.Sincerely,/RA/
