Dear Congressman Edgar:

We are pleased to respond to your September 5, 1985, letter regarding the concerns of Ms. Cindee Virostek related to the Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) plants in Apollo and Parks Township.

With regard to Ms. Virostek's July 29, 1985, Freedom of Information Act request, we have responded to her directly. A copy of our response is enclosed.

In answer to Ms. Virostek's concern over past public exposures, which she has expressed in other Congressional inquiries, copies of the latest Environmental '

Impact Appraisals prepared for the two plants are available in the Local Public Document Room in Apollo. These appraisals contain the staff's analyses of releases of radioactivity from the plants and the resultant doses to members of ,

the public.

Ms. Virostek att. ached to her letter to you information from a 1977 inspection report (which u available in the Local Public Document Room) which identified an item of noncompliance and an unresolved item related to analytical techniques and procedures. These items were technical in nature and had no imract on the health or safety of members of the public.
