==Dear Mr. Schwencer:==

This letter documents our telephone conference call of November 15,1982 with Mr. John Stang, NRC, in which we discussed confirmatory issue number 36 regarding the 3-hour fire rating for gypsum walls.
In a letter dated August 31, 1982, we furnished information to address the signifi-cance of configuration dif ferences between the Perry gypsum wall design and the design tested by Underwriter's Laboratories (UL). To further address the concerns identified in your July 28, 1982 letter, CEI has committed to provide a UL evalua-tion of the configuration differences between the two wall designs to demonstrate a 3-hour fire rating for the Perry design; or perform a plant-unique test of the exact design configuration (using Perry fire hose nozzles) in accordance with ASTM E-119. The UL evaluation will be supplied as soon as it is available.
We believe that this commitment should aid the staff in closing this confirmatory item. If you have any questions please let me know.
Very truly yours, M

Dear Mr.
