Dear Mr. Gatlin:

This letter is to inform you of a Category 3 public meeting which has been scheduled for May 24, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (EDT), to discuss the NRC Reactor Oversight Process and End of Cycle assessment of the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Unit 1 and the initiation of the construction inspection program of the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Units 2 and 3.

Additionally, this will be followed by a second meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (EDT) to discuss the NRC Construction Reactor Oversight Process. The enclosed meeting notice and agenda provide additional details.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS). The purpose of the first meeting is to provide an open public forum to discuss the NRC Reactor Oversight Process of the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Unit 1 during calendar year 2011 and the initiation of construction inspection program of the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Units 2 and 3. The Annual Assessment Letter for Unit 1 is accessible from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS) or http://www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/LETTERS/sum_2011q4.pdf

2. The purpose of the second meeting is to discuss the NRCs Construction Reactor Oversight Process.
