OF THE APRIL 10, 2018, PUBLIC MEETING WITH NUSCALE POWER, LLC, TO DISCUSS U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFFS REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND NUSCALES APPROACH TO PIPE BREAK ANALYSIS On April 10, 2018, representatives of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) held a public teleconference meeting to discuss staffs questions regarding NuScales approach to pipe break analysis as well as the status of NuScales response to staffs requests for additional information (RAI). The NRC staffs RAIs are publicly available in Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession Nos. ML17335A111 (RAI 9221) and ML17153A065 (RAI 8836) respectively. captures the summary of the topics discussed during the teleconference. OF THE APRIL 10, 2018, TELECONFERENCE WITH NUSCALE POWER, LLC TO DISCUSS NUSCALES APPROACH TO PIPE BREAK ANALYSIS AND STAFFS REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requested this public meeting to discuss staffs questions related to NuScales approach to pipe break analysis. The NRC staffs request for additional information (RAI) are publicly available in Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession Nos. ML17335A111 (RAI 9221) and ML17153A065 (RAI 8836). The majority of the discussions between the NRC staff and NuScale contained proprietary information and were closed to the public.

During the open and closed portions of the meeting NuScale summarized the discussions and actions from the November 2017 meeting and provided a status on the action items. NuScale provided an overview of its approach to analyzing various postulated pipe breaks based on the location and environment. NuScale also described how the following events are considered in their overall pipe break analysis:

• Blasts,

• Pipe whip,

• Jet impingement,

• Subcompartment pressurization, and

• Flooding.

NuScale informed the NRC staff that the target date for submitting its responses to RAIs 8836 and 9221 is August 24, 2018.
