SUMMARY

OF THE SEPTEMBER 23, 2019, CATEGORY 1, PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE TO DISCUSS CHAPTER 4, REACTOR, AND THE REACTOR FUEL DESIGN CHANGE PROCESS The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a Category 1 public teleconference on September 23, 2019, to discuss the NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) Chapter 4, Reactor, and the reactor fuel design change process. One member of the general public participated via Bridgeline during the meeting.

The public meeting notice dated September 23, 2019, can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems under Accession No. ML19260F829. This meeting notice was also posted on the NRC public website.

U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION CATEGORY 1 PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE TO DISCUSS CHAPTER 4, REACTOR, AND THE REACTOR FUEL DESIGN CHANGE PROCESS September 23, 2019 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a Category 1 public teleconference on September 23, 2019, to discuss the NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) Chapter 4, Reactor, and the reactor fuel design change process. One member of the general public participated via Bridgeline during the meeting.

During the meeting, NRC and NuScale staff discussed the technical report (TR)-0816-51127, NuFuel-HTP2TM Fuel and Control Rod Assembly Designs, Section 7. NuScale provided conditions, which must be met for any design change to be made without requiring NRC review and approval. They also identified applicable locations within Chapter 4, Reactor, and referenced topical and technical reports to find the fuel design criteria for the NuFuel-HTP2TM design and the approved methodologies by which compliance with these criteria are evaluated.

At the conclusion, NRC staff opened up the meeting to questions from the general public. The one member of the public responded that they did not have any questions for staff.
