The information is as initially received without verification or evaluation, and is basically all that is known by the Region V staff on this date.

- STATE OF OREGON MAY ASK FOR PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING TROJAN Representatives of the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) have informed Region V that Oregon Governor Barbara Roberts plans to notify the news msdia at 7:00 am, PST, tomorrow, December 9, 1992, that she may request the Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSEC) to hold a hearing on Trojan Nuclear Plant steam generator safety. The Governor may also request NRC participation in the Oregon hearing. She further may request the NRC to hold its own hearing on the subjcut.

The Governor's office reportedly received many calls today in response to a full-page advertisement in the Portland Oregonian, sponsored by the Do It Yourself Committee. The ad called for state and NRC hearings, and listed phone numbers for Chairman Salin, Governor Roberts,_the Chair and Vice Chair of EFSEC, and the Director of ODCE. Significant local media interest is anticipated.
