STATUS UPDATE OF THE SAFETY AND SAFEGAURDS REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE TRISO-X LICENSE APPLICATION ISSUED AS OF APRIL 2024 (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2022-NEW-0005)

Dear Jennifer Wheeler:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has developed a list of the NRC safety and safeguards requests for additional information (RAIs) and responses as of April 2024 to support the review of the TRISO-X license application. Your application for a new fuel fabrication facility located in Oak Ridge, TN was submitted via letter dated April 5, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML22101A200) and supplemented by letters dated October 13, 2022 (ML22286A144),

November 4, 2022 (ML22308A251) and February 29, 2024 (ML24060A239).

The enclosures provide a public (redacted) and non-public summary of the status of the RAI responses by technical discipline. The ADAMS accession numbers for the RAI correspondence are provided. In addition, for each RAI that has an unresolved item, a brief summary of the issue is included. The NRC staff will work with you to identify the most efficient approach to resolve the open items (e.g., clarification calls, meetings, supplements, etc.) in advance of your planned submittal of the December 2024 update to the TRISO-X license application.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter and enclosure 1 will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. The NRCs ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment. You may submit your request to the PDR via email at PDR.Resource@nrc.gov or call 1-800-397-4209 or 301-415-4737, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (ET), Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays. transmitted herewith contains security related information.
