REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AS SET 14 FOR THE MATERIAL CONTROL AND ACCOUNTING INFORMATION REGARDING THE TRISO-X, LLC, LICENSE APPLICATION FOR A FUEL FABRICATION FACILITY (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2022-NEW-0005)

Dear Jennifer Wheeler:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has developed subsequent requests for additional information (RAIs) as set 14 to support the review of the TRISO-X, LLC safety and safeguards license application. Your application for a new fuel fabrication facility located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee was submitted via letter dated April 5, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML22101A200) and supplemented by letters dated October 13, 2022 (ML22286A144) and November 4, 2022 (ML22308A251) and revised license application submitted by letters dated December 30, 2024 (ML24365A254) and January 31, 2025 (ML25031A449).

Our review of your license application has identified the need for an additional RAI on the material control and accounting portion of the review. The additional information requested in the non-public enclosure to this letter should be provided within 30 days from May 2, 2025, the date the draft RAI was emailed to you to confirm mutual understanding of the issue. TRISO-X confirmed a follow-up call to align on understanding of the RAI is not needed.

Please let us know if you have an interest in holding a call to discuss the draft responses prior to formal submittal, consistent with the NRC staff RAI process described in LIC-FM-3, section 2.10.1(b) (ML22208A272). Extending the formal responses beyond the 30 days, the need for supplements, or a second round of RAIs may result in an extension of the proposed review schedule of May 2026 (ML23305A193).

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. The PDR is open by appointment only.

The Enclosure transmitted herewith contains Security Related Information. When separated from the Enclosure, this document is decontrolled.
