SUBJECT:

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AS SET 9 FOR THE HUMAN FACTORS REVIEW REGARDING THE TRISO-X, LLC LICENSE APPLICATION FOR A NEW FUEL FABRICATION FACILITY (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2022-NEW-0005)

Dear Jennifer Wheeler:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has developed requests for additional information (RAI) provided as set 9 to support the human factors portion of the TRISO-X, LLC (TRISO-X) safety and safeguards license application review. Your application for a new fuel fabrication facility located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee was submitted via letter dated April 5, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML22101A200); supplemented by letters dated October 13, 2022 (ML22286A144), November 4, 2022 (ML22308A251); and revised license application submitted by letters dated December 30, 2024 (ML24365A254) and January 31, 2025 (ML25031A450).

The RAI responses are due April 19, 2025 (45 days from the date the draft RAIs were provided via email). Please let us know if you have an interest in holding a call to discuss the draft responses prior to formal submittal, consistent with the NRC staff RAI process described in LIC-FM-3, Section 2.10.1(b) (ML22208A272). Extending the formal responses beyond the due date, the need for supplements, or a second round of RAIs may result in an extension of the proposed review schedule.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2 Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter and the public enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS.
