REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SET 5 FOR THE RADIOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL REVIEW REGARDING THE TRISO-X, LLC LICENSE APPLICATION FOR A NEW FUEL FABRICATION FACILITY (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER L-2022-NEW-0005)

Dear Jennifer Wheeler:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has developed the fifth set of requests for additional information (RAIs) to support the radiological and chemical reviews of the TRISO-X, LLC safety and safeguards license application. Your application for a new fuel fabrication facility located in Oak Ridge, TN was submitted via letter dated April 5, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML22101A200) and supplemented by letters dated October 13, 2022 (ML22286A144) and November 4, 2022 (ML22308A251).

Please consider providing your draft responses to the RAIs in advance of the formal response letter and holding a meeting with us to ensure mutual understanding of the responses. The RAI responses are due within 45 days of the date of this letter.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2 Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter and the public enclosures will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. The ADAMS database is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment.
