PUBLIC MEETING

SUMMARY

- 2022 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING REGARDING CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NOS. 05000413 AND 05000414; MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION NOS. 05000369 AND 05000370; OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION NOS. 05000269, 05000270, AND 05000287 On April 17, 2023, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a virtual public meeting concerning the annual assessment of Catawba Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2, McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2, and Oconee Nuclear Station Units 1, 2, and 3. The purpose of the virtual meeting was to provide opportunities to discuss the annual assessment of Catawba, McGuire and Oconee, for the period of January 1, 2022 - December 31, 2022, with the public.

The public meeting was held remotely through the Microsoft Teams application. Additionally, a call-only telephone bridge line was available. The following documents related to the meeting are available in ADAMS: Meeting Notice (ML23089A058), Assessment Meeting Presentation (ML23087A297).

The meeting was scheduled for 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time. There were 31 attendees, which consisted of representatives from the NRC, Duke Energy, and members of the public. Due to the nature of the meeting, no official list of attendees was recorded. NRC staff were available for questions following each site presentation, and again at the conclusion of the presentation.

There was minimal interaction with the public, consistent with the normal meetings conducted near the stations. One member of the public inquired about subsequent license renewal (SLR) activities. The NRC staff gave a high-level overview of the SLR application review status.

The meeting was listed in the Public Meeting Feedback System under Meeting Code 20230332 and as of the date of this memo, there were two feedback responses to the meeting. Comments were reviewed for potential improvements and/or actions, as appropriate.
