REQUEST TOR WITHHOLDING INFORMATION FROM PUBLIC DISCtOSURE By your application and~ affidavit dated April.20,.1987 you requested that-Figure 1:of F. H. Attix's report to the Nuclear-Regulatory Commission,

Review of the Reported High Exposure to Extremity TLD #80365 at the San Onofre Nuclear Generation Site in October 1986, be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790.

In essence, you stated that Figure 1 of the report should be considered exempt from mandatory public disclosure for the following reasons:

1. The information in Figure 1 presents data from a proprietary process employed at Landauer to achieve increased productivity and reduced costs.
2. The process used to e tain the performance data has been under development at Lanu er for several ' years with a significant expense for. development. The data presented in Figure 1 provides potential and current competitors with information that might allow them to circumvent certain development activities.
3. R. S. Landauer, Jr. & Co. has reason to believe that current and potential competitors are familiar with the event.that created the need for the report and that said competitors have an interest.
