Docket No.:

50,323

$1 1 133' MEMORANDUM FOR:

Ashok C. Thadani, Chief Reliability and Risk Assessment Branch Division of Safety Technology FROM:

George W. Knighton, Chief Licensing Branch No. 3 Division of Licensing

SUBJECT:

DIABLO CANYON - REQUEST FOR SISI AUDIT We request that Frank Coffman of your staff audit the modifications made at Diablo Canyon Unit 2 with regard to the potential for a seismically induced systems interaction (SISI) between the in-core flux mapping system (source) and the seal table (target). This particular SISI was the subject of IE Information Notice No. 85-45 and a request for information by Commissioner Asselstine. As Hans Schierling discussed with Frank Coffman, the audit would take place on July 9, 1985. We have arranged for a PG&E representative to be available for the audit and also requested that the calculation / design packages for this SISI be available at the site. Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.
