Request for Additional Information

Dear Sir:

By letter dated January 9, 1997, Duke Power Company was informed of the need for additional information regarding Staff review of Relief Request M-96-003.

Part A of the request for additional information (RAI) involves a revision to the portion of the Federal Code under which McGuire submitted the Relief Request. Specifically, Relief Request M-96-003 was submitted for consideration under 10CFR50.55a(a) (3) (ii); however, during a telecon on February 25, 1997, it was agreed that 10CFR50.55a, subparagraph (g) (5) (iii) would more accurately describe the reasons for relief.

Pert B of the RAI requested a description of the augmented  ;

Reactor Pressure Vessel examination with reference to any l applicable correspondence. Inservice Inspection (ISI)

I personnel indicate that preparation of this information will involve input from various support groups with final compilation, review, and approval by ISI management. It is anticipated of April, 1997.

that this process will be completed the latter part Duke Power Company will supply a full response to Parts A and B of the RAI by May 1, 1997.

You will be informed as soon as possible should circumstances develop that significantly affect the planned submittal date.
