Dear Mr. Zwolinski:

Subject:

Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 IE Bulletin No. 80-11 Status of Masonry Block Wall Analysis and Modification Plans The purpose of this correspondence is to provide you with the status of ongoing activities associated with IE Bulletin 80-11. This infonnation is summarized in the attachment to this letter. Our letter to Mr. Dennis M.

-Crutchfield dated July 26, 1984, which transmitted Topical Report No. 019, indicated that analysis results of four (4) walls (Wall Nos. 31, 32, 33 and

45) in the reactor building southeast stairwell would be forwarded to you by March 1985. Although that analysis is complete, resulting modifications are not yet finalized. In addition, changes in proposed workscope for various walls have been identified or are being considered. One wall (Wall No. 53) has been addded to the workscope and one wall (Wall No. 21) has been put back into the workscope. This wall (Wall No. 21) was previously scheduled for removal as part of Appendix R modifications, however, it will now remain in place. As walls in addition to those four identified in our July 26, 1984 letter require reanalysis and modification redesign we intend to provide you with a revision to Topical Report No. 019 by October 31, 1985.

Continued operation of Oyster Creek remains justified by wall failure consequence analysis submitted by GPU Nuclear letters dated March 14 and May 11, 1984.
