Docket No. 50-219 Notification of Code Case N-504 Usage Regulatory Guide 1.147, " Inservice Inspection Code Case Acceptability, ASME Section XI Division 1", Rev.11 dated October 1994, specified that ASME Code Case N-504, dated April 30,1992, was acceptable to the NRC staff for weld repairs on Class 1 systems.
During the current 17R refueling outage, a through wall indication was discovered on weld NZ-3-41, in Core Spray System I. The repair to this indication was completed and examined using the guidance of N-504. By this letter, GPU Nuclear, Inc., notifies the USNRC of this first time usage, and inclusion into the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Inservice Inspection Program.
