Washington, DC 20555 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324 LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 SEISMIC ANALYSIS

Dear Mr. Van Vliet:

This confirms the results of our meeting of September 10, 1982 as follows:

1. Steam Relief Valve Line No. 124 Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) presented a seismic analysis of this line, which demonstrated that three snubbers could be considered long term fixes. Based on the analysis presented at the meeting, which will be documented in a written report, NRC-NRR agreed that these three snubbers can be considered as long term fixes, and will not require repair prior to startup.

2.

Main Steam Line Inside Drywell Carolina Power & Light Company analysis of this line concluded that it was reasonable to assign long term fix-category to one snubber on this line. However, in that there appeared to be sufficient time for modification of this snubber prior to startup, CP&L committed to complete appropriate modifications prior to startup.

3. Main Steam and Feedwater Lines Outside Drywell Carolina Power & Light Company analysis of these lines con-cluded it was reasonable to assign long term fix category, however, in that it appeared that modifications could be completed (subject to confirmation that materials were availabic) CP&L committed to complete these modifications prior to startup.

Should the status change during modification of items 2 and 3 O above, CP&L would need to present further engineering justification for NRC-NRR concurrence, before these items could be reconsidered as long term fixes.
