LER No.82-001 Omaha Public Power District Fort Calhoun Station Unit No. 1 Docket No. 05000285 ATTACHMENT NO. 1 Safety Analysis The two non-functional fire barrier penetrations are located in the walls dividing the lower electrical penetration room from the air com-pressor room and the air compressor room from the Turbine-Generator building. The penetrations consisted of a one-half inch annulus opening around a two inch pipe. This amounts to an opening of approximately four square inches per penetration.

The fire detector zones adjacent to the degraded fire barriers were operable. An hourly fire watch patrol required by the Technical Speci-fications is redundant to the fire detector system. The lack of a fire watch patrol for approximately 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
did not pose a significant fire hazard since the fire detection capability in the affected zones was still operable.
