v Attrchment to AECM-81/361 Pegn 1 of 1 INTERIM REPORT #1 TO PRD-81/34 I. Description of the Deficiency Incorrect reactor vessel water level transmitters and trip unJ.ts have been provided to Grand Gulf Nuclear Station by our NSSS supplier. dide range transmitters were installed instead of narrow range transmitters as i are required for the design. Several master trip units are also the wrong instruments.

We are cur ~ently investigating, along with our NSSS supplier, to deter-mine plant systems af fected and safety implications.

II. Approach to Resolution of the Prob 1.em The cause and extent of the deficiency have not been d2termined. To correct the existing deficieacy all incorrect transmitters and trip units will be replaced.

III. Status of Proposed Resolution Our investigation is still in progress to determine safety implications, cause and extent, and actions to preclude recurrence. The deficiency does appear to be limited to the NSSS scope of supply.

IV. Reason Why a Final Report Will be Delayed We have not completed our investigation and evaluation of the deficiency.

V. Date When Final Report Will Be Submitted We expect to submit a Final Report by November 30, 1981.
