3) AECM-80/133, 6/18/80 On January 25, 1980, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. M. J. Gouge of your office of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS). The deficiency con-cerns the failure of handswitch CR2940-US203E supplied by General Electric.

The faulty handswitch was employed in a non-safety related appli-cation in the Plant Service Water System. As previously reported, this deficiency would not have adversely affected the safety of plant i operations in this application.

General Electric has investigated and determined that this failure 1 I

is isolated and has no generic significance. Additionally, we have l determined, af ter an extensive survey, that this deficiency does not l exist in safety related systems at GGNS.

Our conclusion is, therefore, uat this matter is not reportable under 10CFR50.55(e).
