PRD-80/33, Status Report #1, Damaged Stator Coil AECM-80/162 On June 23, 1980, Mississippi Power & Light notified Mr. T.

Burdette of your office of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGES) construction site.

The deficiency concerns damage to the stator coils of the generator for the Unit 1 "3" standby diesel generator. The subject diesel generator supplies emergency electrical power to safety-related equipment from Division II of the plant ESF power system.

Our investigation into the problem has not been completed.

We expect to determine reportability and submit a final report by December 17, 19PO.
