5. AECM-80/ll7, 5/30/80 1 On February 12, 1979, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. J. K. Rausch of your office of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) construction site. The deficiency concerns the failure of General Electric subcontractor, I&SE, to establish and implement an approved quality assurance program for electrical work performed under GE Field Deviation Disposition Requests (FDDR) and Field Deviation Instructions (FDI).

The GE subcontractor has developed and implemented a quality as-  !

I surance program to cover work parformed at GCNS.

As reported previously, work performed prior to the implementation of the above mentioned QA program has been re-inspected. We had ex- l pected to provide you a final report on this matter at this time. How-ever, GE has not completed their review of the inspection results and subsequent evaluation of safety implications.

We now expect to provide a final report on this matter by September 8, 1979, s
