Page 1 of I Docket No. 50-339 L yort No. LER 80-022/03L-0 Description of Event On June 9, 1980, with the plant in mode 3, the containment sump flow indicator, FTO-DA-215, ceased to function correctly and was declared inoperable. This event was contrary to T.S. 3.4.6.1.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The consequences of this event were minimal because the containment atmosphere particulate and gaseous radioactivity monitoring systems both remained operable to detect Reactor Coolant System leakage. As a result, the health and safety of the general public were not affected. There are no generic implications associated with this event.

Cause of 0.currence FTO-DA-215 stopped indicating total flow because the strainer located within the instrument was clogged preventing proper rotation of the flow sensor.

Immediate Corrective Action The flow integrator was declared inoperable and an Emergency Main-tenance Report was submitted. The strainer was removed, cleaned and replaced and FTO-DA-215 was tested by procedure and returned to service.

Scheduled Corrective Action No scheduled corrective action is required.

Action Taxen to Prevent Recurrence No further actions are required.

Generic Implications None apparent at this time.
