File 0260/15525/15526 PRD-80/25, Status Report, Carbon Filters Supplied by Farr Company AECM-80/118 On May 2, 1980, Mississippi Power and Light Company notified Mr. F. Cantrell of your office of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (CGNS) construction site. The deficiency concerns carbon filters, Type NPP-2, supplied by the Farr Company.

Farr has reported this matter to the NRC pursuant to 10 CFR 21. Farr reported a lack of reliability in the test equipment used in qualifying the above referenced carbon filters. Subsequently, all Farr filters supplied to GGNS have been returned to the vendor for re-testing and evaluation.

Farr has been requested to verify the quality and reliability of the filters supplied to GGNS. Upon receipt of this evaluation, we will determine the safety implications and reportability of this matter. This matter is being tracked by Bechtel MCAR-GGNS No. 79 and PRD-80/25. We expect to
