SUMMARY

OF CONFERENCE CALL ON MAY 10, 2007, WITH ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC., REGARDING THE PILGRIM LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO. MC9669)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted a conference call with Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., (Entergy) regarding the Pilgrim license renewal application (LRA) to discuss Pilgrim Safety Evaluation Report (SER) Open Item (01) 4.2, SER 01 3.0.3.3.2 and an item for the Pilgrim Audit. The conference call was conducted on Thursday May 10, 2007, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852. The list of participants is shown in the enclosure. The following is a summary of the conference call.

The NRC Pilgrim Project Manager provided a brief introduction. The staff and Entergy then discussed updated requirements for calculating reactor vessel neutron embrittlement. The staff then reopened Pilgrim Audit item number 195 describing the need to credit a different aging management program for small bore valve bodies. Lastly, the staff discussed with Entergy the need to amend LRA commitment 45 to reflect more frequent testing of water if it continues to collect on from the torus room floor.

The applicant had an opportunity to comment on the meeting summary.
