Docket Nos. 50-498 and 50-499 i

I i Gentlemen:

There are currently pending in this docket requests for hearing and petitions .

for leave to intervene (Petitions) filed by Mr. Marke and by Citizens Con-11ern'ed About Nuclear Power, Inc. Both the Applicant and the NRC Staff have filed answers opposing the petitions. It has been asumed that the Atomic Safety a and L'icensing Board established to rule on petitions (Board) would call a spe-l cialirehearing confe: ence in the course of its consideration of the petitions.

_ To aid the Board in determining the availability of the various representatives, Counsel for the NRC Staff discussed scheduling by telephone with Counsel for

('

L th'e Applicant, Crunsel for the State of Texas, Mr, Marke, and Counsel for Citizens Concerned Abcut Nuclear Power, Inc. to see if there were any dates which would be mutually agreeable to suggest to the Board.

Representatives of the participants advised Staff Counsel that they would all be available on November 30, 1978, to attend a special prehearing conference if that date is convenient for the Board. (All of the earlier dates which were suggested conflicted with prior commitments of the participants.)

Sincerely ,

($'L[ knCb/K Vicki R. Harding Counsel for NRC Staff ec: See page 2
