-50320-860128 January 28, 1986 NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE-PNO-TMI-86-02 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance. The information 1is as initially received without verifi-cation or evaluation and is basically all that-is known by NRC staff on this date.

Three Mile Island, Unit 2 X Unusual Event-Docket Number 50-320

Subject:

WORKER FAINTS IN REACTOR BUILDING At 7:10 AM, an unusual event wa declared when an electrician passed out on the defueling platform in the Reactor Building, while changing light bulbs. The licensee's Emerger& Response Team (ERT) immediately made entry to render first aid. The individual's respiratory protection and plastic suit were removed to facilitate first aid procedures. The individual was stabilized by the ERT, regained consciousness and was removed from the Reactor Building. Middletown paramedics and ambulance responded.

After the individual was examined and frisked, he was transported to Hershey Medical Center at 7:48 AM. Slight contamination was identified on his forehead. The cause of the individual's loss of consciousness is not known at this time. The Senior Resident lnspector observed the licensee's response from the Command Center.

Media interest has occurred. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been informed.

The NRC was notified of the event at 7:18 AM on January 28, 1986. This information is current at 8:45 AM, January 28, 1986.
