RADI0 ACTIVE MATERIAL OFFSITE A licensee pickup truck with a radioactive sample container in the bed of the truck was offsite for about two hours on Wednesday, February 25,1987. ' A small container of low level radioactive samples was found in the bed of a licensee pickup truck onsite Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 1987. The container was apparently placed in the
- truck bed on Tuesday when material was transported from one location to another onsite.
The vehicle was offsite for about two hours on Wednesday. The container was sealed and tagged. Radiation levels were about 2 mR gamma and 30 mrad beta at a distance of one foot from the container. _The NRC was notified at 4:15 PM Wednesday afternoon.
Site inspectors are reviewing the event and the licensee's response.
This PN is for information only and is accurate as of 10:30 AM, February 26, 1987.
The licensee has issued a press release and the Comonwealth of Pennsylvania has been notified.
