CRYSTAL RIVER NUCLEAR PLANT - DOCKET NO. 50-302

Dear Mr. Young:

This letter is to inform you that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will conduct a Category 3 public meeting on April 30, 2009. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an open public forum to discuss the Agencys annual assessment of safety performance for the Crystal River Nuclear Plant. The NRC staff will be available to answer questions from the public regarding plant performance, as well as the Agencys oversight of the facility. Progress Energy/Florida Power Corporation is encouraged to attend this meeting. A meeting notice, which provides additional details, is enclosed.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
